I Like That I Can
03:52
|
|||
Hey, it’s me. Nobody moves.
Aren’t we happy? I thought I knew.
Look how I look. What do you care?
I guess I thought that we were almost there.
Well, I could kill you in your sleep
You know the thought’s occurred to me
While I’m the big, strong man
No, I wouldn’t. But, I like that I can.
Aren’t we happy? You expect too much.
You’re nobody’s devil. You’re not mine to touch.
Flaked with dirt. My oldest friend.
You’re mine to hurt. You are mine to end.
Cuz, I could kill you in your sleep
Do you know how easy it would be?
I could do it with one hand
No, I wouldn’t. But, I like that I can.
I could kill you in your sleep,
You know the thoughts occurred to me,
You're the big strong man,
There's no way I could but I like to think that I can
I can kill you in your sleep
Tonight, tomorrow, or next week
With or without a plan
I might not do it. But I like that I can.

Pardon My French
02:54
|
|||
I died for a minute, now i hear your sins
Once I was out, I thought I’d never get in
But it’s like I never left, like I had nothing to fear
I’m not sure why I miss you, cuz you’re right here
I don’t remember, seeing a cloud
without a silver lining not one without
I’m sure there have been, one or two
But none that I remember, seeing with you
Show me an old-fashioned woman
And I’ll show you a man who’d rather die alone
Cuz when those cards are dealt, he can’t help it how he felt
And it wasn’t often that he really felt at home...
Pardonnez-moi, mon ami
Tout ce que je peux dire est
Bonjour et merci
Tu me manques mais vous êtes ici
Jamais semblé si sombre dans le milieu de la journée
Pardon my French, I mean my francais
It’s never seemed so dark in the middle of the day
Until I open my eyes, and it’s all so clear
I’m not sure why I miss you, cuz you’re right here
Show me a reason to keep livin’
And I’ll show you a reason best to die
Cuz when those cards are dealt, it don’t matter how you felt
And in the end every single one of us will lie

My Mr. Pibb
03:01
|
|||
Take a swig of my Mr. Pibb
Take a look at the book I’m reading
It should come as no surprise
You know me better than I realize
You see it coming and you see it coming
You see it coming from a mile away
What I’m gonna do tomorrow
You knew yesterday
Take a walk cuz we need to talk
Not too far cuz we are short-winded
I mean I never have a lot to say
I say a lot but I leave a lot of empty space
You see it coming and you see it coming
You see it coming from a mile away
What I’m gonna do tomorrow
You knew yesterday
But everything’s not
What it appears to be
Take a swig of my Mr. Pibb
Take a look at the book I’m writing
You should know there’s a lot to learn
You’ll know me better as the pages turn
You see it coming and you see it coming
You see it coming from a mile away
What I’m gonna do tomorrow
You knew yesterday

Ten Times More
02:19
|
|||
Go to church, read more books
You should care about how you look
Wear this shirt, cut your hair
Don’t sell drugs, at the fair
When you’re not who you were before
You will love her, but you’ll hate her ten times more
Ten times more
Ten times more
You will love her, but you’ll hate her ten times more
Share your thoughts, tell a joke
Only smoke, when I smoke
When you’re not who you were before
You will love her, but you’ll hate her ten times more
Ten times more
Ten times more
You will love her, but you’ll hate her ten times more
(melodica)
When you’re not who you were before
You will love her, but you’ll hate her ten times more

A Walk Along the Line
03:36
|
|||
Hold me close, or let me go
Either way I’d hope that you would let me know
But I’m not dumb, And I’m not young
I realize that this is not the way it’s done
And I’ll be sitting home all by myself
thinking all is fine
Meanwhile you’ll be off somewhere
on a walk along the line
Hey let me go,
I'm not saying that you should have told me
But I'd like know
Let me know, or let me go
You make it clear, you pull me near
and hold me close
So now we’re sitting home together
Knowing all is fine
And no matter what the weather
we take a walk along the line
we take a walk along the line
hand in hand along the line
Yeah I know, you let me go
It was super clear, and I felt the fear
but it’s long since gone
And I wish I wasn’t sitting home alone
with pictures of when
when we used to walk together
out to the edge and back again
Oh, are you ever coming back again?

Erect and Alert
02:18
|
|||
He died erect, and alert
Under the false impression
that the end wouldn’t hurt
He took you, at your word
Even though he knew
what you said sounded absurd
He barely, caught your name
And soon after her did
He forgot it just the same
But he hung on, to what you’d said
You promised him that he’d ease into the end
We’re all in pain until we die
In pain from the moment we’re alive
Believe anything else and you believe a lie
We’re all in pain until we die
He died alert and erect
Never really knowing
exactly what to expect

I Saw You Looking at Me
04:32
|
|||
I saw you looking at me
from across the Milky Way
and the stars in your eyes
came as no surprise, I must say
You can pour me a slow, tall drink
That’ll give me time to think
By the time your light arrives
My rehearsed surprise’ll knock you off your feet
Wait for my love
Wait for my love,
cuz it’s comin’ yeah it’s comin’
and it’s comin’ and it’s comin’
when it comes, you best be prepared for love
like you’ve never felt before
Cuz it’s comin’ yeah it’s comin’
and it’s comin’ and it’s comin’
when it comes, you best be prepared for love
like you’ve never felt before
I saw you looking at me
from across the Milky Way
and the stars in your eyes
came as no surprise, I must say

I feel no worse than you or Grandpa in his youth
If I fall down just once I’ll call you through the dust
A potted plant outside where we’re allowed to hide
I just threw up again
You can be honest with me, but I’m not promising anything
How poets sing and die, how architects don’t try
Press up against my back, an authoritative smack
A fuckin’ work of art, spread my bits apart
Add stuff in between, I like my cladding lean
I drink alone enough to make a poet blush
If I fall down just once I just might die in rust
I feel no worse than you, I drink alone, I do
I need to fix the house
You can be honest with me, but I’m not promising anything

In Each Other’s Way
02:04
|
|||
I’m already gone and she already knows it
She doesn’t need to hear a word
And even if I tried to smoothen up the ride, my
My sounds would go unheard
We never knew that we were in each other’s way
We never knew what not to say
I’m already gone and she already knows it
But I guess she’s gonna play along
Pretend not to see what anyone can see
Until something better comes along

I've Had a Drink
02:00
|
|||
She shows her breasts to anyone.
I fly a plane, Do you want to come?
I’ve had a drink, but please don’t leave.
My lucky number’s seventeen.
Did you choose the porcupine?
I should’ve guessed. Lower the blinds.
I’ve had enough. I’ve had enough.
I’ve had a drink. You’ll have to leave.
You’ve had enough to just believe.
Patricia spreads champagne on ice.
A hearty lunch in paradise.
I’ve had enough. I’ve had enough.

Maybe No, Maybe Yes
03:57
|
|||
maybe no, maybe yes
i just try to do my best
we can write it in the snow
maybe no
maybe right, maybe wrong
i can sing it in a song
we can sing it through the night
maybe right
Well that’s a thing that I can do
I can do it if I choose
Just close your mouth up tight and breathe
What’s it matter now to you
What good would it do
Just close your eyes up tight and dream
maybe yes, maybe no
i just do the things I know
now we feel as cold as death
maybe yes
maybe wrong, maybe right
i can see him once or twice
we can stay but not too long
maybe wrong
It’s your fate to change the map
of the world then change it back
Just close your ears up tight and lie
Well can you change the way you live
That’s a whole lot to admit
Just close your mind up tight and die
maybe no, maybe yes
i just try to do my best
we can write it in the snow
maybe no

The Rabbits in My Yard
04:03
|
|||
I killed another rabbit in the yard
It was cold he was old it wasn’t hard
he hopped right into my homemade trap
I grabbed a hold of his neck and I gave it a snap
If they wouldn’t eat my vegetables
Then I wouldn’t have to be so cruel
I’d live and let live all day long
And I wouldn’t sing such a morbid song
I hear them in the middle of the night
I know for sure they’re sleeping and so am I
And in the morning when the sun shines
They’ve taken over my dreams I hate to realize
I killed another rabbit in the yard
’s gotta be twenty-two or three so far
Cut off the legs and then the head
And pull the skin back right at the neck
I remove the guts and then chop it up
Brown the bunny and put it in the pot
Tryin’ not to let them go to waste
(But) There’s only so much stew a man can take
I hear them in the middle of the night
I know for sure they’re sleeping and so am I
And in the morning when the sun shines
They’ve taken over my dreams I hate to realize
I killed another rabbit in the yard
I’m not proud it was loud behind the barn
he hopped right out of my homemade trap
He made a run I pulled my gun and that was that
